Second opinion
Musculoskeletal radiology second opinion
An independent review of images already acquired, by a radiologist dedicated to the musculoskeletal system, to support the decision made with your treating physician.
Musculoskeletal & Sports Radiology
What is reviewed
The review starts from the original images, not only from the report. Series are re-read plane by plane, with attention to the sequences that best demonstrate each structure: T1, fat-suppressed T2, proton density and any additional sequences in the acquired protocol.
The reading is directed at the clinical question. Anterior knee pain, suspected meniscal re-tear in an operated knee and bone marrow oedema in a runner require different emphases on the same study.
When it usually helps
- A report that does not explain the clinical picture or conflicts with the physical examination.
- A relevant surgical decision, where an additional reading may change planning.
- Postoperative follow-up imaging, with anatomy altered by hardware or fibrosis.
- Muscle and tendon injuries where extent and location influence time away from sport.
- Studies acquired at different services that need to be compared.
What you receive
A structured description of the imaging findings in plain language: what was identified, what was not, and which findings are relevant to the question asked.
The document is written to be taken to your treating physician. It does not replace a consultation, does not set treatment and does not promise an outcome.
Registration

Informational content. An imaging second opinion does not replace clinical assessment, and treatment decisions remain with the treating physician.
